Original reduction linocut. Balcary Tower near Auchencairn in south west Scotland has always intrigued me. Smuggling was rife along this coastline and so I like to think of it as some kind of watchtower. It was reputedly built for the local Laird’s mistress, but I prefer my version, that this was a ruse. It was really a lookout post for smuggling!
