Butterfly Box, with butterfly clasp
Japanese books are often protected in boxes and I've taken this box making technique and used it to protect my little concertina book.
This process involves making my own glue and using this to apply Japanese washi, a type of strong tissue paper, to the suede style fabric for the box cover and to some pretty Japanese papers for the inside. This method ensures the fabric and papers wont stretch when I apply them to the box pieces. Once the glue has dried I cover the box pieces and glue these in place to form the box shape.
Inside the box you'll find an accordion fold book made with pressed leaves in the shape of butterflies, accompanied by a little rhyme.
